The Best $15 Cell Phone Plan

Hey,

I’ll jump straight to the point.

You’ve got $15.

What’s the best cell phone plan?

Here are your three best options:

1. US Mobile 10GB Annual

US Mobile 10GB annual plan

18 days ago, US Mobile launched its new 10GB plan.

And this plan is incredible.

For $15 per month (taxes included) you get unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and 10GB of high-speed data. You can use up to all 10GB of data as hotspot data. Plus, you get free international calls to over 200+ destinations.

It’s amazing you can get all this for $15.

BUT… there’s a catch.

To get US Mobile’s plan, you need to sign up for 12 months at a time.

That’s $180 up front for this plan.

Still, with taxes and fees included, the choice of using this plan on either the Verizon or T-Mobile networks, and the fact you can use all 10GB as hotspot data makes this one of the best-value $15/month plans in the industry.

US Mobile 10GB Pros:

  • Unbeatable price for 10GB high-speed data

  • Use all 10GB as hotspot data

US Mobile 10GB Cons:

  • Data stops after 10GB. MMS and visual voicemail use a little bit of data to work properly, so those features may pause working if you hit 10GB.

  • Need to pay for 12 months of service upfront

2. Tello 5GB

Tello 5GB plan

If you’d prefer to pay monthly for your cell phone service, Tello’s 5GB plan is hands-down the best option.

Tello’s plan is listed for $14 per month.

The total price comes to $16.19 after taxes and fees. At least, that’s what I pay here in Longmont, CO.

The plan includes unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and 5GB of high-speed data per month. You can use up to all 5GB as hotspot data. Tello also includes free calling to 60+ countries and you can buy international calling minutes to additional countries at affordable rates

The best part?

Tello’s plans are flexible.

Only need 100 minutes? You can grab the 5GB plan with 100 minutes for just $11 per month ($13.14 after tax).

Want more data? You can get 10GB with 100 minutes for $16 per month ($18.31 after tax).

Tello uses T-Mobile for coverage, has a nice website, has kind and helpful customer service agents, and supports eSIM and 5G.

It is a surprisingly good deal!

Tello 5GB Pros:

  • Free international calling to 60+ countries

  • Free rollover data if you renew your plan a day in advance

  • Pay month-to-month for your service

Tello 5GB Cons:

  • Data stops after 5GB. MMS and visual voicemail use a little bit of data to work properly, so those features may pause working if you hit 5GB.

  • T-Mobile coverage may not be for everyone

3. Honorable Mentions

US Mobile’s 10GB annual plan and Tello’s 5GB plan are the two best options for $15 or less right now.

That said, here are two honorable mentions you should know about:

  • MobileX Custom 4GB - $16.49 for unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and 4GB of high-speed data. MobileX lets you customize your plan with the exact amount of minutes, texts, and data you want. Plus you get free account credit for any of your unused data each month. It’s a decent value (even cheaper if you need fewer minutes or texts) and a very consumer-focused brand. Verizon coverage.

  • Red Pocket 5GB Annual - $197.64 upfront for 12 months of service ($16.47 per month). Red Pocket is the best option if you want AT&T coverage. Includes unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and 5GB of high-speed data.
