Best Cheap Cell Phone Plans for $25 or Less
Five shockingly affordable plans to lower your monthly phone bill.
FTC: I may earn money if you choose to make a purchase using my links.
Hey,
These are the five best cheap cell phone plans for 2024.
Best cheap plan overall: US Mobile Unlimited Flex
Best plan for $10: US Mobile 2GB
Best custom plan: MobileX
Best dirt-cheap plan: Good2Go Mobile 1GB annual
Best cheap unlimited plan: Visible Base
1. Best cheap plan overall: US Mobile Unlimited Flex
I think US Mobile Unlimited Flex is the best overall bang-for-your-buck cell phone plan right now.
It is an annual plan, so the cost is $210 up front with all taxes and fees included.
That breaks down to $17.50 per month.
For the price, you get 10GB of high-speed data, 5GB of hotspot data, 480p video streaming, and free international calls and texts to over 200+ destinations.
Competing plans offer only 5GB for about $16 after tax (Mint Mobile, Red Pocket, and Tello), so to be able to get 10GB of high-speed data for $17.50 is a steal.
2. Best cell phone plan for $10: US Mobile 2GB
US Mobile’s 2GB plan is undoubtedly the best option for $10 or less per month.
For just $10 flat, you get 2GB of high-speed data, hotspot support, up to 4K video streaming, unlimited minutes and texts, and free stateside international calling and texting to 200+ destinations.
Need extra data?
You can add more data anytime you need it for just $2 per GB. And any unused data from your top-up automatically rolls to your next month of service.
You can activate US Mobile’s 2GB plan on either the Verizon or the T-Mobile network for coverage.
It’s a sweet deal, and other plans typically only offer 1GB of data for around the $10 price point (MobileX, Tello, and Good2Go Mobile).
3. Best custom plan: MobileX
Want total control over your cell phone plan? MobileX is for you.
First, you choose exactly how many minutes you want:
No minutes or texts for $0
50 minutes and 50 texts $1.50
150 minutes and 150 texts for $2.50
Unlimited minutes and texts for $4.50
Then, you add as much data as you want (down to the MB) for just $2.10 per GB.
The only other fees are a flat $1.98 service fee and regular taxes and fees.
An example 4GB plan with 150 minutes and 150 texts comes out to just $12.88 before taxes.
MobileX is one of the most customizable cell phone plans in the industry right now.
It’s awesome.
4. Best dirt-cheap plan: Good2Go Mobile 1GB annual
Want one of the cheapest cell phone plans available?
Good2Go Mobile’s 1GB annual plan is it.
The plan is listed as just $5 per month. It includes unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, 1GB of high-speed data, and coverage on the AT&T network.
Of course, it is an annual plan, so the upfront cost is a little more.
When I went to checkout my total was $83.49 after all taxes and fees. That’s $6.96 per month.
Still, for under $7 per month, this is an insane value.
The only potentially better value may be Red Pocket’s 500MB annual plan, which for me came out to $65.52 after tax.
But there are compromises.
Red Pocket’s plan is only available on eBay, includes just half the high-speed data (500MB compared to 1GB), and it only comes with 100 minutes and 100 texts.
So for the cheapest plan available, I think Good2Go Mobile is your best option (as long as you’re willing to pay up front for it).
5. Best cheap unlimited data plan: Visible Base
If you need unlimited data at a great price, there is no better option than Visible Base.
It’s $25 per month and includes unlimited high-speed data, unlimited hotspot data at 5Mbps, 480p video streaming, and free international calling to Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam and Saipan.
What more could you ask for?
Plus, Visible Base runs on the Verizon network for robust coverage across the United States.
If you’re interested in an annual plan for extra savings, you can grab the Visible Base annual option for just $22.92 per month, or $275 up front.
Crazy good.
