On March 20th, 2023, almost exactly one year ago, I launched CoverageMap.com with my business partner Trevor.

CoverageMap.com was a website to build crowdsourced maps of cellular coverage.

Trevor and I wanted to put the power into YOUR hands to determine what carrier has the best coverage in your area.

Since we launched:

• Over 8,500 people uploaded over 3.5 MILLION speed tests to the crowdsourced Speed Test Map, making it the fastest-growing crowdsourced map of cellular coverage that is public-facing

• We built a Coverage Search tool where you can enter your ZIP code and instantly see the #1 carrier in your area

• We launched free apps for iPhone and Android

There was just one problem…

It was a pain to contribute data to the coverage map!

To upload data to the crowdsourced Speed Test Map, you had to run a speed test in another app, export your results as a CSV file, email the file to yourself, download the file on your computer, save the file, drag it on to the CoverageMap website––it was a mess!

Trevor and I knew we needed to build a better solution.

So, we did.

After 7 months of hard work, 200+ beta testers, and a LOT of trial and error, I am excited to share…

We built a speed-test app for iPhone!

That’s right.

You can now run a cellular speed test directly within the free Coverage Map app for iPhone.

Each test you run automatically contributes to building the fastest-growing crowdsourced map of cellular coverage that is public-facing!

And Android users, don’t worry!

The Android version is currently in development and will be coming soon.

In addition to making it easier than ever to help build crowdsourced maps, the CoverageMap Speed Test has four key features not found on other apps:

1. Run recurring tests until a set number or set data amount is reached

2. Set data usage limits

3. Share your results on social media without having the numbers cropped out

4. Map areas with no cell coverage

1. Download the free Coverage Map app for iPhone

2. Create a free account or sign in to your existing account

3. Run a cellular speed test using the new Coverage Map Speed Test in an area on the Speed Test Map that has not been mapped before

4. Each new 0.1km hexagon you generate will be one entry into the iPhone 15 Pro Max giveaway. The more hexagons you generate, the more entries you will get and the higher your chances of winning.

5. The giveaway entry period closes on Monday, March 18th at 11:59pm ET. You will want map as many new hexagons as possible between now and then!
