Google Fi's New Unlimited Plans: Explained!
Premium data, better prices, & international features
Hey friend,
Google Fi Wireless launched three new unlimited data plans on April 22nd, 2025.
Unlimited Premium
Unlimited Standard
Unlimited Essentials
The new plans bring:
Better prices
More priority data
More hotspot data
Free Watch and Tablet lines
Excellent international features
Let’s dive in.
Google Fi Unlimited Plus → Unlimited Premium

Google replaced the Unlimited Plus plan with a new Unlimited Premium plan.
Three key changes:
Priority data: priority data increased from 50GB to 100GB
Hotspot data: hotspot data went from being included (where you could use up to all 50GB of high-speed data as hotspot data) to now having a limit of 50GB. Hotspot data still deducts from your high-speed allowance
Canada & Mexico Roaming: Roaming data increased from 50GB to 100GB (to match the new high-speed allotment)
The rest of the plan features remain the same:
Price: $65/mo
Video streaming: 480p streaming
International texting: 200+ countries
International calling: Free calls to 50+ countries
International data roaming: Free texting and 50GB in 200+ countries, $0.20 per minute for international calls
Smartwatch line: Included for free
Tablet line: Included for free
Multi-line pricing also remains the same:
Lines | Unlimited Plus (old) | Unlimited Premium (NEW) |
---|---|---|
1 | $65 | $65 |
2 | $110 | $110 |
3 | $135 | $135 |
4 | $160 | $160 |
5 | $200 | $200 |
Overall, these changes are a welcome improvement.
100GB of priority data on the T-Mobile network for $65/month, or as low as $40/line/mo for 4 lines, is a great value.
For context, T-Mobile Prepaid Unlimited Plus plan costs $60/mo, and it only includes 50GB of priority data and 10GB of hotspot.
Plus, Google Fi Wireless includes a free smartwatch line and tablet line with its plan. The smartwatch and tablet data usage pulls from the 100GB high-speed allotment.
Google Fi Simply Unlimited → Unlimited Standard

Google Fi Wireless also replaced its cheaper Simply Unlimited plan with its new Unlimited Standard plan.
Three awesome upgrades here:
Priority data: Priority data increased from 35GB to 50GB
Hotspot data: Hotspot data increased from 5GB to 25GB
Canada & Mexico roaming: Canada & Mexico roaming increased from 35GB to 50GB (to match the new high-speed data allowance)
The rest of the features are the same:
Price: $50/mo
Video streaming: 480p streaming
International texting: 200+ countries
International calling: Pay-per-minute international calls
International data roaming: Not supported
Smartwatch line: Included for free
Tablet line: Not supported
Multi-line prices are the same as well:
Lines | Simply Unlimited (old) | Unlimited Standard (NEW) |
---|---|---|
1 | $50 | $50 |
2 | $80 | $80 |
3 | $90 | $90 |
4 | $100 | $100 |
5 | $125 | $125 |
Getting 15GB more high-speed data and 5x the hotspot data all for the same price are excellent improvements.
The multi-line discount makes the plan even more compelling, dropping the price down to as low as $25/line/month with four or more lines.
Still, competition is healthy.
Mint Mobile offers truly unlimited data and 10GB of hotspot for just $20/month with their current promotion.
And for a single line, you can grab 100GB of high-speed data and 50GB of hotspot data with US Mobile’s Unlimited Premium (Light Speed) plan.
US Mobile even includes up to 10GB of free roaming in 180+ countries with its plan, making it a great option for international travelers.
Google Fi Unlimited Essentials → NEW

Google Fi Wireless launched an all-new Unlimited Essentials plan.
It starts at just $35/mo.
It gives you the core features you need at a great price:
Price: $35/mo
Hotspot: Not supported
Video streaming: 480p streaming
International texting: 200+ countries
International calling: Pay-per-minute international calls
Canada & Mexico roaming: Not supported
International data roaming: Not supported
Smartwatch line: Included for free
Tablet line: Not supported
Here’s the multi-line breakdown:
Lines | Unlimited Essentials |
---|---|
1 | $35 |
2 | $60 |
3 | $80 |
4 | $90 |
5 | $113 |
The two big perks to Unlimited Essentials are that it includes priority data and it includes a free smartwatch line.
But, honestly, that’s it.
The lack of hotspot is a deal-breaker for me. And there is no option to add hotspot data if you need it, later. You’d have to upgrade to Unlimited Standard or Unlimited Premium.
If it were me, I would 100% grab Mint Mobile’s Unlimited plan for $20/mo instead.
Mint’s plan has a better price, truly unlimited high-speed data, and gives you 10GB of hotspot data.
Or, just upgrade to Google Fi Wireless’s Unlimited Standard plan. The price difference is not that much for families. You’d pay $25/line/mo with 4 lines on Unlimited Standard vs. $22.50/line/mo on Unlimited Essentials.
The extra $2.50 per line would easily be worth it for me. You’d get 20GB more high-speed data and 25GB of hotspot data for the cost.
Google Fi Flexible → Unchanged and still horrible
Google Fi Wireless’s Flexible plan is $20 for unlimited talk and text + $10/GB of usage.
That is outrageous!
Don’t buy it.
Instead, go with MobileX.
MobileX is $4.50/mo for unlimited talk and text + $2.10/GB of usage.
That’s not a typo.
Plus, MobileX gives you credit BACK for any of your unused data.
Insane.
If you use 3GB, you’d pay $50/mo on Google Fi Flexible.
You’d pay $13/mo on MobileX.
I know which one I would pick.
