Verizon's New Unlimited Ultimate Plan: Explained!

3x the hotspot data and 50% more international data

Hey friend,

April continues with more amazing plan updates!

This time, it is Verizon.

On April 17th, Verizon updated its Unlimited Ultimate plan with:

  • 3x more hotspot data

  • 50% more international data

This is a MASSIVE upgrade!

Does it make Verizon’s plan the new best plan from the big carriers?

Let’s find out.

But first, here’s what’s new with Unlimited Ultimate.

Verizon Unlimited Ultimate: Old vs. New

Here are the two big changes with Verizon’s new Unlimited Ultimate plan:

  • Hotspot: 60GB hotspot, then 600 Kbps on LTE and 3 Mbps on 5G UW → 200GB hotspot, then 6 Mbps

  • International data roaming: 10GB, then 256 Kbps in 210+ countries → 15GB then 1.5 Mbps

The rest of the Verizon Unlimited Ultimate plan features remain exactly the same:

  • Price: $90/mo

  • Data: Unlimited priority data

  • Video streaming: 1080p on 5G Nationwide/LTE, 4K on 5G UW

  • International texting: 210+ countries

  • International calling: Unlimited minutes to Canada and Mexico, up to 300 minutes to one country of your choice from 140 eligible countries

  • Canada & Mexico roaming: 2GB per day, then 600 Kbps

The biggest upgrade to Verizon Unlimited Ultimate was easily the hotspot data.

Before you got 60GB of hotspot. Now you get 200GB of hotspot. That’s the most hotspot data on a postpaid plan.

Also, after you use your high-speed data, you get unlimited hotspot data at 6 Mbps.

6 Mbps is fast enough for web browsing, social media, and watching YouTube videos at about 720p quality.

This is a big win for heavy hotspot users.

The second change was to the international roaming.

Instead of 10GB, you now get 15GB of international data in 210+ supported countries.

Data speeds after your high-speed allotment have also gotten faster. Instead of 256Kbps, data speeds are now at 1.5 Mbps after your high-speed allotment.

Those speeds are 3x faster than what T-Mobile offers after its high-speed allotment.

This is a big win for international travelers.

But, how does Verizon Unlimited Ultimate stack up against the flagship plans from AT&T and T-Mobile?

Let’s cover that next.

Is Verizon Unlimited Ultimate Worth It?

If you're a heavy hotspot user, a frequent traveler, or just want the best-of-the-best from a big carrier, Verizon Unlimited Ultimate is an AWESOME plan.

But, at a hefty $90/mo, is it really worth it?

If you have 1-3 lines, you’ll save money with a prepaid cell phone plan.

For example, the new Visible+ Pro plan has 90% of the same features as Verizon and costs HALF the price ($45/mo).

Visible+ Pro saves you money over Verizon if you have between 1 and 3 lines.

This is even after you factor in the free phone deals Verizon offers:

Verizon Unlimited Ultimate is only worth it if you have four or more lines.

Only then do the free phone deals and multi-line discounts reduce the yearly cost to just under the cost of Visible+ Pro.

Always do that math for your specific situation. That way, you can find the best option for your needs.

But for most people, I highly suggest you consider a prepaid plan.
